I didn’t start out in the creative field. For years, I worked a steady office job and followed the path I thought I was supposed to take. It looked right on paper, but it never felt right for me.

At 34, I went back to school at Selkirk College and completed the Digital Arts & New Media program. That decision changed everything. It pushed me outside of my comfort zone and brought me back to something I had lost along the way: my connection to art.

Through that experience, I found my place in graphic design. I developed a strong focus on typography, branding, and clean visual work that helps businesses present themselves with clarity and confidence. Today, I run Heartwood Media, where I work with small businesses to create thoughtful, professional design that reflects who they are. My work is detail-focused and built to support real people running real businesses.
